‎Suddenly the phone screen lights up.
‎You text, "Haven't you gone to sleep yet?" 
‎I laugh alone in the silent night  
‎You have taken my sleep away  
‎I cannot say this on any night.   
‎
‎Today, even though we are far apart   
‎we are very much side by side   
‎Those one-line messages  
‎change my entire day.   
‎
‎When you're not around   
‎a cup of hot tea
‎feels so cold.   
‎When you are here   
‎my tiny balcony fills up with flowers.   
‎
‎When I listen to your words  
‎all my weariness  
‎takes the form of poetry.   
‎How much I have changed   
‎Every dawn begins with you  
‎Your name is etched in my very being.  
‎
